Vallana Wines is an organic winery with with a rich history of winemaking dating back to the late 1700s. Alto Piemonte is surrounded by the Alps and multiple bodies of water, creating a sub-alpine climate and complex soils due to a geological phenomenon discovered in 2009 – a Super Volcano – one of less than fifteen on the entire planet. Today the winery is run by a sixth generation of family members who have worked hard to maintain their grandfather’s roots. This medium-bodied red is 100% Barbera with a high acidity and notes of red fruit, black pepper and a touch of earthiness making it drinkable on its own or paired with a richer meat like roast duck.
